The building located in Piazza del Liberty 8 in Milan is an example of architectural grafting, the central portion of the main facade characterized by numerous decorations in concrete, marble and wrought iron comes from another building. More precisely from the old Trianon theatre (1905) located in the nearby Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Demolished following the bombing of 1943 was partially recovered from the rubble and placed as a decoration at the center of a new building by the architects Catteaneo and Santamaria in 1955.

A case definitely unique in its kind for size and complexity in the panorama of post-war reconstruction in Milan. The “old” facade full of art nouveau decorations was applied, with a complex lattice of hooks that allowed the attachment to the new building. After several years, the studio has proposed to intervene with a conservative restoration to preserve the surfaces, decorations and groups of statues, the studio has supported the Aldo Maiocchi in the preliminary phases, in those of project and construction.

The final result of the intervention brought to light the original beauty of the surfaces hidden under years of dirt and pollutants, Returning to the city one of the examples of plastic decoration that best describes the architectural culture of Milan at the end of ‘800.
